Willow Weaving 101

Sunday 5th July

1 - 4pm
Befriending willow
Have you been eyeing up willow trees in your local park, or admiring homemade baskets? This is your opportunity to begin building a relationship with willow as a plant for weaving. In this session, we will get our hands straight into weaving basket bases together with locally foraged willow, and then sit back with a cuppa and talk about how to continue your journey with willow - learning about seasonal growth cycles, how/where to safely forage, practices to prepare willow for weaving, and where to keep learning how to make basic baskets.
This will be a prerequisite for a springtime course where we build off our bases to make simple round baskets, and empower you to carry your relationship with willow forward.
After this workshop there is continued support to be found in our Plant-Based Crafts Club which happens every second Wednesday of the month, as well as through one on one or small group lessons with Mo. Get in touch via email if this is something you are interested in: micromillteam@gmail.com.
A portion of all Generous tier tickets goes towards free monthly Micro Mill workshops for community organisations like the Wellington Women’s House.
