The Art of Mending
APRIL 15TH SASHIKO IS NOW AT 11 HOPPER ST
128 Vivian Street
Third Wednesday of every month
5:30 - 7:30pm
Please bring something to mend!
Join us on April 15th for some visible mending with sashiko! Aisha will be teaching us this japanese mending technique which reinforces textiles, and looks beautiful. This is a great opportunity for an into to hand sewing. We recommend this technique for holes in woven fabrics, the classic crotch rip is perfect for this. We encourage you to bring along a textile item to mend. We will also have garments from the tip shop that need some love and care - if you fall in love you can take these home with you!
In May we are learning needle felting! This technique is great for mending holes in knitted or any wool garments. We have found it works on acrylic knits as well.
A portion of all Generous tier tickets goes towards free monthly Micro Mill workshops for community organisations like the Wellington Women’s House.
