Mother's Day Making

Celebrate Mother's Day - making for or with your mum! The Micro Mill has two super sweet workshops to choose from, and will have tea and cakes to fuel the creative juices. Bring your mum, make something for her, or just come hang out and make something for yourself. Both workshops are beginner friendly. Rag Rug Braiding 
Mo/Monica will touch on the techniques used to make single braid sewn rugs, but focus on teaching 4-stranded braiding techniques. They will also discuss how to find and process materials and how to build your experimentation with natural dyes, varied shapes, or non-fabric materials. Basic fabric for the workshop is provided - but you are highly encouraged to bring fabric that is meaningful to you in colour or origin. Think old but clean bedsheets/tablecloths, fabric in the colours of your home spaces, or even clothing desiring a new life. 

Chain Maille Key Chains
At this workshop, Aisha will be teaching the basics of chain maille and you'll walk away with a key chain made with your own two hands. We'll be creating a flower shaped chain which you can add beads, shells, and other shiny dangly adornments, to make it your own. All materials and tools are provided, you are welcome to bring your own bent nose pliers if you have them.
